Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC)
The Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), formerly the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), was established in 1987 under Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore, with the vision of enhancing the professional development of teachers in higher education. Its primary objective is to motivate and train faculty members in innovative teaching methodologies, strengthen knowledge delivery systems, and foster creativity, critical thinking, and innovation in academics.
The institute emphasizes the integration of technology in pedagogy, including the use of ICT tools and MOOCs (SWAYAM), while offering a diverse array of academic programs such as refresher courses, faculty induction, workshops, and short-term courses. Covering contemporary themes like intellectual property rights, environmental education, sustainable development, data analysis, entrepreneurship, gender sensitization, disaster management, and human rights, the courses are tailored to meet evolving educational needs.
Instructional methods are highly engaging and participatory, including lectures, case studies, field and industry visits, simulations, group discussions, poster presentations, and digital content creation. This experiential approach ensures real-world application alongside theoretical learning. The institute also undertakes green initiatives, such as paperless processes, plastic-free zones, and digital feedback systems.
A notable strength of MMTTC lies in its collaborations and resource enrichment. Eminent experts from IIT Indore, IIM Indore, Centre for Advanced Technology, and National Law Universities are regularly invited, while video conferencing facilities allow interaction with scholars from abroad. The Centre has also signed an MOU with NLU Nagpur for academic and research collaboration.
Between 2019 and 2024, the Centre successfully organized 128 programs, including NEP 2020 sensitization workshops, UGC STRIDE programs, and ICSSR-sponsored national conferences. MMTTC remains a vital hub for educational innovation, making significant contributions to teacher training and the successful implementation of India’s National Education Policy 2020.
