The School of Biotechnology was established in 1991 with financial assistance from Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, New Delhi. From 2020 onwards, the School of Biotechnology is running autonomously. At present, the department has its own double storied building with a total surface area of about 20000 sq. feet and is well equipped with solar rooftop pannel and rain water harvesting system.

The School of Biotechnology offers M.Sc. Biotechnology, M.Sc. Genetic Engineering and M.Sc. Bioinformatics. The school has sophisticated laboratory facilities for Molecular Biology, Animal Cell Culture Technology, Enzyme Technology, Genetic Engineering, Microbiology, Plant Tissue Culture, Environmental Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. The laboratories are equipped with instruments such as High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), Real Time PCR machine, laminar air flow (LAF), Microscopes, CO2 incubator, Nano-Drop fluorometer, UV/Vis spectrophotometer, ELISA plate reader, shaker incubators, autoclaves, and desktop computers etc.

Our department boasts a glorious past, and its tradition of excellence continues unabated. Our alumni are well placed in industry and academia, both nationally and internationally. Our faculties are actively engaged in research with national and international collaborations. With a commitment to sustainability, ethical practices, and technological innovation, the department strives to empower students with the knowledge and skills to lead in diverse scientific domains, while still connected with our roots to become a socially responsible citizen of the nation and the globe.
