School of Chemical Sciences, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore has grown into a nationally recognized centre of excellence in chemical education and research. The school has been nurtured by the contributions of eminent faculty members whose dedication and academic leadership have laid a strong foundation for its continued success.
Over the years, the school has built a stimulating academic and research environment supported by funding agencies such as UGC, DST, CSIR, DRDO, and MPCST. The department has also been recognized under UGC-SAP (DRS-Phase I) with a grant of ₹1.26 crore to strengthen its research facilities.
The school offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs with specializations in Organic, Inorganic, Physical, and Analytical Chemistry. Its curriculum combines a strong theoretical base with hands-on laboratory training, preparing students to develop both practical skills and conceptual depth. Research at the School spans across Synthetic Chemistry, Nanotechnology, Medicinal Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Green Chemistry, and faculty members have consistently published in reputed international journals.
The school maintains strong academic collaborations with premier institutions such as IITs, IISERs, IICT Hyderabad, UGC-DAE-CSR Indore, CSIR- AMPRI, NITs, CSMCRI, and leading industries, offering students opportunities for internships, projects, and advanced training. This department has also helped students achieve significant milestones in their careers, including leading positions in pharmaceutical companies, qualifications in national-level competitive examinations such as NET and GATE, and prestigious recognitions like the ISCA Young Scientist Award, D.S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship, S.P.M. Fellowship, and several other National and State Awards. Alumni of the school hold prestigious positions in academia, research organizations, and industries both in India and abroad.
